wizology ins and outs

wizology is a community that exists within the world of harry potter. everything from fantastic beasts to the seventh harry potter book is canon in terms of history. anything after that like the cursed child, bullshit from jkr's mouth, etc. does not exist. we are encouraging you to branch out from the hp world. come up with new inventions, jobs, occupations, spells, etc. to contribute to the community. realism, plots, characters: this is a magical community where we encourage ic drama, ridiculous plots and creativity. realism is expected in the most common sense forms. your character can't commit a billion crimes in front of a group of aurors and then get away with it. things like pregnancy should only last 9 months, falling out a window will result in time spent at st. mungos and getting hit by the killing curse will kill your character. we also encourage you to bring any kind of character you want to. friendly, rude, bitchy, slutty, complicated..whatever. please note that the death eater era is long gone. your character can have had family members in the past that were death eaters but generally the struggle over blood purity has been played out in so many hp comms that we're going to encourage you to come up with something new if you want to write a darker character. take into consideration as well that writing a dark, moody character does not make you exempt from participating in the community. it's just rp, make it work. the old hp community ways back in the day journals acted as parchments, that's not the case here. there will be no handwriting claims (though you can certainly do image updates with handwriting that belongs to your character). customs for that reason are no longer called 'parchments' - instead your character should ask for a private owl message/private o.m. you can read about that here. our attitudes, your attitudes: it's 2022, rp is slower and we're just here to have fun. we're not here to play rp politics, pay attention to past rp grudges or fret endlessly about what other people are doing. stay in your own lane and let us handle anything problematic. if you're having trouble liking it here, you don't have to stay. your attitude should be positive. always be friendly toward people new and old, don't cross ic/ooc lines and don't get so invested that you bolt at the first sign of ic drama. basically....be an adult.

community rules

again, it's 2022. we're not too concerned about a lot of things. your character journals can be ic or ooc so long as they don't have underscores or numbers. we only ask that if you use an ooc username that it's not related to things that only exist in the muggleworld (tv show names, movies, apps like youtube, etc). your journals need to have two backdated posts. one in character and one out of character. we strongly encourage you to use the journal resources posted in wizology. rejections can happen if we don't think you will fit in to the community, so try not to look like a fish out of water. character information: your ooc posts should have character info posted. the basics are needed - character's full name, birthdate and age, occupation, hometown, school/house, patronus, boggart, etc. we also require a small blurb that is at least 200 words. we don't need a novel or their entire life's history but just give us an idea about who they are. activity you should be posting twice a month and it can be whatever you want. want to post two interactive posts? go for it. two narratives? please! one of each? you got it. make sure they're not on the same day and try to spread them out without rushing to update at the end of every update cycle. each cycle starts on the 1st of every month and ends on the last day. we will give a 5 day extension if you're in a bind but note we won't do it back to back. your updates can be whatever you want so there's no pressure to write something long or do a lot of coding. activities/public threading: we will post wizarding news updates, community plots that will not last too long but will affect the entire community, narrative prompts, ooc/ic ffas and polls for what you all want to see next. public threading will be limited to group threads should we decide to ever do one. please keep all one on one threads in customs and off the fp. don't be an asshole. being an asshole ooc will get you removed. we're too old to fight over rp so be chill.
