wizology history
in 2019 weasley wizard wheezes released a line of products that they proudly declared "new magic". falling in line with the theme of their shops, these products were used to merely create wizard based games and pranks on extremely thin screens that wizards could carry with them anywhere, as a simple spell could shrink or enlarge them as necessary.

meanwhile, wizarding entrepreneur and muggleborn britta griggsby was searching for a way to bring muggle social media to the wizarding world, mainly because it'd been so lucrative for the muggles who'd created it. knowing that the wizarding world would never get on board fully unless magic was involved, she set out to find a way to merge magic and social media together.

one day, britta was sitting on a wizarding train in france. she noticed a small child on what appeared to be a very sleek looking muggle tablet. upon closer inspection she noted that the child was playing a game that featured a large, flatulent hippogriff. curious, she asked the child's mother what the product was and she explained it was a new game from weasley wizard wheezes.

britta canceled her afternoon plans and arrived in diagon alley just in time to buy herself one of the games from weasley wizard wheezes. when she asked how it worked, magically, she was given a wink and was told it was a secret. having none of it, she met with george weasley a week later and offered a life changing amount of money for the technology. he accepted and thus, wizology was born. britta took the simple screen and simple game and alongside a team of expert spell makers, expanded on it. eventually, her ideas evolved and flourished into what it is today in 2021.

the tablet
Wizology released it's first tablet, the Bolt 1.0 in November 2020. It was named after one of the fastest broom models in the wizarding world, the Firebolt. This name took shape after the Spudmore estate (the inventors of the Firebolt broomstick) invested more money into Wizology than anyone else, owning the second most shares in the company.

how they work, how to get one: the bolt 1.0 screen is made up of a very thin glass forged by technicians working for wizology. not only was this glass made with very complicated, expert transfiguration and charm spells - it was also made with skin cells taken from a demiguise. it was discovered in 2018 that their skin cells held countless helpful magical properties. without demiguise, the bolt 1.0 would not have been possible.

the screen is easily charmed to shrink or enlarge to fit the owner's preferences. it is suggested that they are never enlarged over 43' as the magical properties of the glass start to thin and start to function improperly. it is also suggested that it is not shrunk down to less than 2' as they are transparent when they are not being used and easily lost. wizology also sells cases and protective shields for travel.

a bolt 1.0 can only be purchased at an official wizology store. any knock off tablets cannot be verified by wizology and cannot carry legal applications that exist within it. their main building is in diagon alley in london, england. they recently opened locations the united states, germany, scotland, canada and france. witches and wizards purchasing one can shell out 300 galleons for one (converts to approx. 1493 pounds or 2100 dollars) or sign up for a payment plan and contract.

configuration: due to privacy concerns, the wizology team worked effortlessly to make sure each bolt tablet could be unique and special to each witch or wizard buying it. when purchasing, a personal wand must be present as well as the person the tablet will belong to. a tech will instruct the user to place their palm print on the glass and the tech will utter the spell to light the screen up. then, with their wand, the user must perform a locking charm once, finishing by pressing the tip of their wand to the glass. from then on out, the screen can only be accessed and turned on by the wand belonging to the user.

the flaws the content saved on a phone is very hard and expensive to replace if the tablet is lost. wizology technicians are working to create memory properties to include in 2.0, in hopes that within the network any photos and data lost can be recovered for individial users.

The Wizology team is working very hard on features for the Bolt 2.0 which is set to be released in late 2021. For now, here are the features that owners of the Bolt 1.0 can enjoy while they wait:
owl messaging (o.m.): owl messaging is the bolt equivalent to a text message. users can easily communicate with one another by speaking what they want to say into their bolt or by typing on the screen. when users receive a message the tablet sounds a "hoot" to notify them. notifications can be silenced or changed to other sounds purchased with the bolters store. users have shortened owl messaging to o.m. in every day language. example: "i just received an o.m. from dad." or "send me an o.m. when you figure it out." in the community owl messages are simply customs or wire messages.

bolters: bolters is a growing social media feed where users can share photos, thoughts, music, art or any other appropriate social media esque post. in the community these posts can be posted to your character journals or bolters.

spellcasts: spellcasts is an open platform on bolts that are the equivalent to podcasts. anyone can create one by simply recording and editing on their screens. they get added to the spellcasts network and users can pick and choose topics they'd like to listen to, fiction or non-fiction any day of the week! in the community your character can have their own spellcast or you can make up ones that you think would be your character's favorites.

cupiditatem: cupiditatem - desire in latin, is the bolt equivelant to tinder. users have started simply calling it 'cupid' for short. users can throw up their best photos (stationary or moving) to attract other users for dating, hooking up or friendship. in the community post your cupid posts in cupiditatem using the magical format posted in the guidelines.

revelio: revelio is online market for users to offer their services or put goods up for sale. many vendors in diagon alley have started to use the service for ordering ahead services and have started to work out ways to deliver goods via owl or employee. in the community your character can have their own market selling clothing, art or offering their services for money - cleaning, errand running, etc.

WWW Center: also known as the weasleys wizard wheezes center. this is a gaming center for those bored and looking for something to kill time. there are currently over 30 games available for play including a candy crush esque game called whizbee matches, a wizarding chess game called royal chess masters, a inferi killing action game called dead alive! and many more. feel free to be creative and submit game ideas to us to add to our incoming directory.
